Experienced technology and commercial transactions attorney based in New York City, Franciscus Ladejola Diaba is a Senior Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at the National Basketball Association (NBA). In this position, Franciscus Ladejola Diaba oversees various legal activities and assists the NBA with a myriad of technology transactions. He is the NBA’s lead technology lawyer.
Previously, Franciscus Diaba gained legal experience as an attorney for major corporations, including Johnson & Johnson, and world-leading global law firms, such Herbert Smith Freehills Kramer. His work in these roles emphasized technology and commercial transactions, as well as intellectual property law. He has also worked as a project and manufacturing engineer at General Motors in Detroit.
Franciscus Diaba earned a mechanical engineering degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. While pursuing his juris doctor at the University of New Hampshire’s Franklin Pierce School of Law, he was the president of the Black Law Students Association and served as the student commencement speaker. He has also studied drama at Harvard University.
